CareConnections Offers Integrated Patient Satisfaction Module

12/12/2005

CareConnections is pleased to announce an improved module for users of the CareConnections Patient Satisfaction program. Previously offered as a standalone system, patient satisfaction will now be offered as an add-on feature to the CareConnections Outcomes System. The goal of the new format will be to link patient satisfaction ratings with patient outcomes.

For current users of the Outcomes and Patient Satisfaction Systems, your registration process will be altered to take full advantage of the link between outcomes and satisfaction. Beginning January 3, 2006, customers subscribing to both Outcomes and Patient Satisfaction will be asked to enter patient information on the CareConnections Web site after the patient completes their initial evaluation visit. Once initial patient demographics (and initial outcomes scores, if available) have been entered, you will have the ability to print a patient-specific satisfaction survey from the Web site that will be tied to the patient record.

Data collection process for Outcomes/Patient Satisfaction subscribers will now work as follows:

  1. On initial visit, patient completes relevant Outcomes form.
  2. Some time before patient’s last visit, clinic enters patient demographic information and outcomes on CareConnections Web site.
  3. At conclusion of initial registration process, clinic will click on the Patient Satisfaction link and choose the appropriate patient ID to print a patient-specific satisfaction survey.
  4. Clinic can print survey and keep it in patient’s chart.
  5. On patient’s last visit, clinic will give survey to the patient.
  6. Patient may complete and turn in the survey to the clinic, or they can mail it directly to CareConnections.

The patient specific survey is bar coded to link with the outcomes registration in CareConnections. It will be important that clinics NOT make copies of the Patient Satisfaction survey in bulk if they want satisfaction results tied to outcomes data. A separate survey will now be printed for each individual patient. Patient anonymity will be maintained outside of your clinic as long as you follow guidelines for identifying your patients in the Patient ID field. (See Section III of CareConnections User Manual, under section heading “Data Entry Fields”)

The first two steps of data collection described above will also be used for future methods of patient satisfaction monitoring, including email and kiosk methods. Look for further developments in patient satisfaction monitoring to be announced throughout the coming year.
